Low Log

Michael (LL co-editor and roommate) bought some records recently. The Mantles LP, a NIke 7 Up 7” and two Craft Spells 7”s. This song, “After the Moment” was sounding particularly catchy to our ears yesterday. We were both trying to think of what the guitar reminded us of. I thought it was mgmt. Michael was like nah and then later, as he was out the door, he was like, “Oh i think it’s that 1 2 3 4 song that I hate.” I knew exactly what he was talking about; it’s this song called “I’m Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You.” I’ll always kind of like that song because it reminds me of Michael and the title is long and complicated. However, after revisiting both of these the bands I can’t say I’m left filled with hope and stirred by the possibility of forward thinking. The amazing part is that at one point I was. “Electric Feel” felt revelatory in the same era that “A Milli” did. I’m curious to see how Craft Spells plays out and into the equation.
